Valathi Outreach Christian Ministries (VOCM) Neelampoondi – South India

The village of Neelampoondi is approx 100 miles SW of Chennia (Madras) in South India. The organisation VOCM having been working in the Valathi District for many years helping to establish a number of projects to help those in the area. This has included; Adult and child literacy work, schools, workers co-operatives, farm management, needle-craft and many other useful skills. Through this work they have also had the opportunity to share the Christian faith and to develop worshipping communities in a number of the villages.

In 1997 we as a Church raised £2,000 to build the Church at Neelampoondi which is used as a place of worship and a place in which to hold the literacy work. In 1998 5 of our fellowship went out to open the Church and to visit some of the work the VOCM organisation are undertaking. We have now established a strong link with this group and continue to support them through our prayers and financially.
