All Saints Community Project Menu
The All Saints
Neighbourhood Renewal Initiative started in 2003 with a number of interested
parties coming together to see how they could pool existing resources to
deliver projects in the All Saints area.
Since this time the local council has identified ‘All Saints’ as a sub
ward of Chatham Central and using it as a model through which to deliver the
Governments agenda for Neighbourhood Renewal and Sustainable Communities has
worked alongside voluntary and community groups.
In 2004 / 05
the partnership bid for ODPM Sustainable Communities funding and Area
Investment Framework (SEEDA) and was successful in obtaining £0.5 million to
deliver on the following projects
£180,000
Green Spaces: - redesign
and landscaping of Chalkpitt Hill, one of the few open spaces within the
NRI. Following a Child to Child
consultation delivered by pupils of New Road Primary School and Groundwork
Medway Swale this piece of work received funding and is being delivered.
£100,000
Housing:- house improvement grants for both
internal and external usage, especially for helping individuals with heating,
double glazing, roofing etc. This
project built on the grant already given by the local council for house
improvements.
£50,000
Roads: - feasibility and
delivery of road traffic calming measures, especially to identify ways in which
HGV vehicles could be reduced in the local area.
£50,000 New
Community Facilities: A
feasibility study and business plan has been undertaken to see how a site
identified in the report might be developed so as to deliver more services of a
higher quality.
£75,000
Improvements to Link Building: - this
project has seen the redevelopment of the existing link building in All Saints
Church be redesigned to create a new, enlarged Online centre, improved kitchen
facilities, improved Community and admin office and reception area.
